Burel is a traditional Portuguese wool fabric, dense and felted, historically produced in the mountain regions of Portugal—most notably Serra da Estrela.
Made from 100% natural wool, burel is tightly woven and then milled, which gives it its characteristic thick, compact, and weather-resistant quality.
Today, burel is also appreciated in contemporary design and fashion for its natural texture, muted earthy tones, and strong connection to Portuguese heritage.
